Curriculum

Sacred Heart Parish School provides quality Catholic education to TK through eighth grade students in a welcoming environment. Established in 1934, the school is part of the Diocese of Sacramento and has been a fixture in the East Sacramento neighborhood for decades. We are fully accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

The curriculum at Sacred Heart is held to rigorous diocesan standards. That means every subject area meets or exceeds the expectations required of all California schools. Our core curriculum includes religion, reading and literature, language arts, science, history, physical education and math. Every lesson at our school is built on the foundation of Gospel values.

Sacred Heart provides a curriculum that is comprehensive and challenging. We recognize that every child is unique and ensure that our students receive the instruction they need. As a result, students leave Sacred Heart fully prepared for the rigors of high school. In fact, the majority of our graduates earn academic honors during their first semester at local Catholic high schools. Many Sacred Heart graduates have gone on to become leaders in their fields and in their communities.

At Sacred Heart, subjects are not taught in isolation, but are woven throughout the curriculum. This approach allows students to use skills and ideas they learned in one subject and apply them in another, which deepens their understanding.
