At Sacred Heart Parish School, we believe in educating the whole child. In our care students will grow intellectually, spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically. We are a small, Catholic, neighborhood school. We recognize each and every student as a child of God with unique talents and gifts. At Sacred Heart, all children have the chance to fulfill their academic and social potential while learning and experiencing the richness of the Catholic faith through developing a relationship with a loving God. Our Catholic faith and values are reflected in every aspect of our school, from the lesson plans to the physical structure. When students enter school each morning, they are greeted by the words, "Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like yours." These are more than just reminders; they are the basis of everything we teach.
Sacred Heart school was founded in 1934 and completely staffed by the Sisters of Mercy as a cordoned-off section of the temporary Sacred Heart Church. It quickly outgrew that space and moved into a stand-alone building in 1939, where it remained for seven decades. Then, in 2009, construction began on our new, state-of-the-art school campus. Along with the new structure comes a renewed sense of school pride and possibilities for the future.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like yours.
The Catholic faith and traditions are at the core of a Sacred Heart education. These values are integrated throughout the curriculum. Students learn to imitate Christ by incorporating the Gospel values of faith, hope and charity in their everyday lives in the classroom, on the playground and at home. Students discover God’s presence in their lives and develop a deep sense of their Catholic faith.
